The project implementation of registration and distribution of Identity (ID) card of fishermen in the six upazilas of the district is progressing satisfactorily.
With a view to implement the government vision 2021, Department of Fisheries with the help of government has taken the project for giving registration and distribution of ID card of the fishermen for developing their socio-economic condition.
Official sources said, in the meantime, the department has completed the final list of the fishermen in the six upazilas here.
A total of 11,295 fishermen are living in the district. Of them 3,261 are living in Sadar upazila, 4,897 in Raipura upazila, 1,285 in Shibpur upazila, 759 in Monohardi upazila, 781 in Belabo upazila and 312 in Polash upazila.
