Work abstention hampers academic activities at CU

A three-hour-long work abstention, called by the Chittagong University Teachers’ Association (CUTA) on Monday turned the academic activities of Chittagong University stand off as no class was held.
Teachers observed the work abstention from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm, followed by their pre-scheduled agenda, which surfaced three-day work abstention on August 16, 23 and August 30, this month in demand of an autonomous pay commission for autonomous pay scale for the public university teachers.
However, pre-scheduled exam was held in some departments. Students’ appearance was so poor that no students were seen in front of the faculties.
Meanwhile, the teachers threatened to halt academic activities unless the government implements their eight -point demands; they placed to the government earlier.
