Salma Khatun of Bangladesh shone with the cherry as Trailblazers clinched the title of the Women’s T20 Challenge defeating Supernovas by 16 runs in the final at Sharjah in United Arab Emirates on Monday. Salama Khatun captured three wickets at the cost of 18 runs in her four overs.
Sent into bat first, Trailblazers made a fighting total of 118 for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs and then they restricted Supernovas to 102 for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.
Smriti Mandhana of Trailblazers played a captain’s knock of 68. Her 49-ball innings saw five fours and three sixes.
Deandra Dottin of Trailblazers was the other successful player of Trailblazers. She knocked 20 from 32 balls including one four.
Salma Khatun did not get chance to bat against Supernovas.
Radha Yadav of Supernovas claimed five wickets instead of 16 runs.
Shashikala Siriwardene and Poonam Yadav got one wicket each conceding 22 and 23 runs respectively.
Later, Salma Khantun dismissed the most valuable player of Supernovas. She cleanly bowled out Harmanpreet Kaur for 30 runs.
Earlier, Salma Khatun dismissed Shashikala Siriwardene for 19 runs. Then Salma Khatun harpooned Pooja Vastrakar for a duck.
Besides, Salma Khatun played a key role to run out Anuja Patil for eight runs.
Deepti Sharma of Trailblazers grabbed two wickets giving nine runs, while Sophie Ecclestone took one wicket for 26 runs.
Smriti Mandhana of Trailblazers was adjudged the Player of the Match, while Radha Yadav of Supernovas was awarded the Player of the Tournament.
