Women’s Football team’s SAFF mission starts today

Bangladesh Women’s Football team will start their SAFF Women’s Championship campaign when they face Afghanistan in their group B opening match scheduled to be held today (Thursday) at Kanchenjunga Stadium in Siliguri, India.
Bangladesh is slated to take on defending champions India on the last day of the year at the same venue.
Earlier, the Bangladesh eve team had light practice today at the match venue to prepare themselves for their Thursday’s match.
It will be a must win game for Afghanistan to keep their semi-final spot alive after a 1-5 goal defeat in the hand of host India in their opening group B match held on Tuesday.
Apart from host India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, The Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka will participate in the championship, organized by South Asian Football Federation (SAFF).
Bangladesh grouped in B along with Afghanistan and host India while group A pitted with Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Bhutan.
After the group phase engagements, both the semi-finals will be held on January 2 while the final is slated on January 4.
