A platform of women organisations on Wednesday demanded arrest and exemplary punishment to those accused in the Noakhali gang-rape case.
They also demanded punishment to abusers all over the country and urged country’s women to build a movement for the sake of rights.
The demand came from a protest rally under the banner of
Sakal Bam Gonotantrik Nari Songhoton held in front of the Jatiya Press Club.
“We hope that the arrests will not be an eyewash and the offenders will be given exemplary punishment,” said Runa Noor, member of Communist Party of Bangladesh.
Shampa Basu, General Secretary of Samajtantrik Mohila Forum, claimed that 10 children were raped and killed after the election, but police could not arrest none of the culprits.
