BSS, Rajshahi :
Speakers at a discussion said womenfolk could become the driving force of development if they were imparted training on different trades, vocations and proper employment.
They viewed there is no alternative to build skilled human resources to make the country self-reliant besides economic emancipation. The entrepreneurs should come forward towards establishing small and medium industries in the region to create employment opportunities for regional development, they added.
They were addressing the inaugural session of a three-day in-house training under Skills and Training Enhancement Project (STEP) held at conference hall of Rajshahi Women Technical Training Center (RWTTC) here yesterday.
Director of STEP Muhammad Imran and Communication and Mobilization Consultant Zillur Rahman addressed the session as chief and special guests respectively with Nazmul Haque, Principal of RWTTC, in the chair.
Junior Project Consultant Abdul Hannan and Youth Trainer Mahbub Ara Begum also spoke.
The chief guest said need-based vocational training for the women coming from poor families is very important but their post-training employment has become an urgent need for eradicating unemployment problem. He viewed that the persons with technical education can contribute a lot in the country.
“We have no way but to generate more technically and technologically sound women to meet up the social demands as it is being increased gradually,” he mentioned.
The industrialists and other entrepreneurs should come forward with positive mentality for their employment. There should be linkage between the RWTTC and industries so that the trained women can get job on priority basis.
Md Imran, however, said the trained women should seize every opportunity offered by the government and viewed that professional training could help women entrepreneurs realize these opportunities.
