Forty-eight MPs who have been elected uncontested from the seats reserved for women in the 10th Parliament will take oath on Sunday, officials say.
Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will administer the oath at the Parliament building at 11am, Parliament Secretariat spokesperson Md Joynal Abedin told bdnews24.com on Saturday.
The Election Commission declared the women winners on Wednesday and a gazette was published the following day.
Of the MPs, 38 are from the Awami League, one each from the Workers Party and JaSaD, five from the Jatiya Party and three from the independent lawmakers’ alliance.
Nominations of Awami League-endorsed aspirant Sabiha Nahar Begum and Jatiya Party’s Khorshed Ara Haq were cancelled over non-payment of dues.
The first session of the current Parliament will run until Apr 3 and the women MPs can attend the session if they want.
