Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq said on Thursday that he will set up women holiday markets in every ward of DNCC.
“We have to do many for women empowerment. The DNCC will set up women holiday markets in every ward to encourage women entrepreneurs,” the Mayor said this while presiding over the inaugural ceremony of DNCC Women Holiday Market in Mohakhali.
DNCC and For the Women By the Women Forum jointly organised the market.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal was the chief guest in the programme.
The Home Minister said, “This market will inspire the women entrepreneurs surely. We hope that these small businesswomen will be big entrepreneurs in future.”
The Home Minister also assured those businesswomen for their every safety in the market.
Mizanur Rahman Joardar, the Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank stated the opportunities have been given to women entrepreneurs in bank sector. He said that, in all branches of every banks have been given directives to open women entrepreneurs desks and to give loans minimum three of them.
DNCC CEO Md. Mesbahul Islam, Women Councillor Aleya Sarwar and For the Women By the Women Forum President Shamsunnahar, among others, were present.
The women entrepreneurs thanked the Mayor for the temporary marketplace for them. But they demanded a permanent place for their business. They also requested to give them admit cards with signature of the Mayor.
