The Dhaka District Women’s Football Competition, organized by Dhaka District Women’s Sports Association began on Wednesday at Sultana Kamal Women’s Sports Complex.
State Minister for Youth and Sports of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Dr. Biren Sikder inaugurated the competition as the chief guest.
M. Bazlul Karim Chowdhury, Commissioner, Dhaka Division, Dhaka and Mohammad Salahuddin, Deputy Commissioner, Dhaka, and President, Dhaka District Sports Association were present as special guests.
Fahmida Khanam, President of Dhaka District Women’s Sports Association, presided over the function.
Among others, Hamida Begum, General Secretary of Bangladesh Women’s Sports Association, and Kamrun Nahar Hiru, general secretary of Dhaka Divisional Women’s Sports Association, all the members of Dhaka District Women’s Sports Association, among others were present at inauguration ceremony.
In this year’s competition, 14 teams of 5 Upazilas and Dhaka City Corporation are taking part in the competition. Keraniganj Upazila Green Club defeated Nawabganj Upazila Green Club 1-0 in the opening match.
Earlier, two games were held at 10 am and 11.30 pm. Keraniganj (Red) team defeated Dhaka North City Corporation (Green ) team by 7-0 goals and Nawabganj (Red ) team beat Dhaka North City Corporation (Red) team 1-0.
Dhaka City South (Green) vs Dhamrai (Green), Dhaka City South (Lal) v Dhamrai (Red) at 11.30 am and Doha (red) vs. Savar (Red) team will be playing today (Thursday )at 3pm.
