A court here on Wednesday sentenced a woman, her son, three brothers and a sister for killing her husband in Shibganj upazila in 2012.
The lifers are- Shahar Banu, 44, wife of victim Abdur Rahman, their son Abdul Hakim, 31, her three brothers- Riazul Islam , 58, Motiur Rahman, 46, and Habibur Rahman, 41 and sister Hajera, 46, residents of Housenagar village.
The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each, in default, to suffer three months more jail.
According to the prosecution, Shahar Banu and her husband Rahman, son of Bhoguruddin of the same village, used to lock into altercation as she had taken Tk 70,000 from her husband to give to her brother.
As a sequel to the family feud, Shahar Banu called him to her father’s house on February 2, 2012.
Later, she along with her son, three brothers and sister killed Rahman and hanged the body with a mango tree.
Later, victim’s brother Rafiqul Islam filed a case with Shibganj Police Station.
Police submitted chargesheet against the six accused on May 18, 2012.
After examining all the records and witnesses, Md Ziaur Rahman, additional district and sessions judge handed down the verdict.
