A 45-year old woman was slaughtered allegedly by her husband in Kamarpukur area under Saidpur upazila of Nilphamari district on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Ismat Ara, wife of Shafiqul Islam, a former chairman of Kamarpukur Union Parishad, police said.
Saidpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahjahan Pasha said that local people found Ismat’s body behind their house at Koyanijpara in the morning and informed the police.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Nilphamari Sadar Hospital morgue, the police official said.
Ismat might have been slaughtered any time at night, the OC said.
Police, however, detained the victim’s husband and brother-in-law in this connection.
