A woman was allegedly raped in Fulbari upazila of Kurigram district early Wednesday.
The victim, a mother of two children, filed a case under Women and Children Prevention Act with Fulbari Police Station in the evening.
In the case statement, the plaintiff said her husband works in Cumilla. In his absence,her co-villager Ataur Rahman,24, used to harass her and offer indecent proposal, the woman alleged.
As the woman refused his proposal, Ataur entered her house around 12:30am, first tortured her and then violated.
Hearing the victim’s screams, he mother-in-law came forward and tried to caught Ataur. But, the miscreant beat up the old woman and fled the scene.
Fulbari Police OC Razib Kumar Roy said the victim was sent to Kurigram Sadar Hospital for medical test.
