Nine months into the city’s Banani hotel rape incident, another woman was allegedly gang-raped by two youths during a birthday party at Star Guest House in the same area on Saturday night.
After the victim filed a case against two youths — Rajib Ahmed and his friend Rubel Hossain Joy with Banani Police Station on Sunday, police arrested the duo, said Borhan Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of the police station. According to the first information report, Rajib was acquainted with the woman over phone and invited her to the guesthouse on Road No. 15 of Banani saying it was his birthday. “The two then confined her at the guesthouse and raped her,” the OC said quoting the victim. The arrestees were produced before a Dhaka court with a remand prayer, he said.
Banani Police Station Sub-Inspector Abdul Jabbar said that one Rubel Ahmed along with his friends raped his girlfriend whole night in a guest house of Banani.
The girl was invited to a birthday party at Star Guest House on Road No 15 at Block-D of Banani at about 8:00 pm on Saturday. Later, she was gang-raped by Rubel and others, said the police official.
Meanwhile, the victim was taken to One-stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Monday where her medical tests were conducted, said the OCC’s Coordinator.
On May 6 last year, two university girls were allegedly raped at The Raintree Hotel in the city’s Banania area.
On the other hand, a 17-year old RMG worker was ganged raped by one Jahidul, 20, and his two friends at Dour area of Turag Saturday evening. The two accused friends are- Sanjid, 21, and Ashik, 20.
The victim girl filed a case with Turag Police Station on Sunday night Later, police arrested Jahidul, said officer-in-charge (OC) of Turag Police Station Md Nurul Mostakim.
