A woman was killed when a bus ran over her in the capital’s Shahjalal International Airport area on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Mariam Begum, 45, who ran a makeshift tea-stall in Airport intersection. On the fateful morning of the day, she with her husband went to dump garbage on the opposite side of the road around 6am. Just then a Gazipur-bound bus hit Mariam from behind, leaving her dead on the spot.
“My mother’s body was stuck with the front wheel of the bus,” Mariam’s son Saiful Islam said.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Officer-in-Charge of Airport Police Station Nur-e-Azam Miah said that the police seized the passenger bus of ‘Turag Paribahan’ soon after the incident, but the driver managed to flee.
