An old woman was killed when a Chandpur bound bus from Cumilla ran over her at Dherora village in Hajiganj Upazila on Chandpur-Cumilla Regional highway on Monday noon.
The deceased was identified as Fatema Begum,70, wife of late Md Oliullah -an inhabitant of Dherora village in Ward No-3 under Hajiganj Municipality in Hajiganj Upazila. .
Police sources said, when the old woman was crossing the road, being hit by the speedy bus, she fell on the road and then she was critically injured on her head and hands.
Locals rushed her to Hajiganj Health Complex where she succumbed to her injuries later.
Contacted, OC Md Alamgir Hossain told this correspondent that on getting information, Police rushed to the spot and then seized the bus. But the driver is still absconding.
