UNB, Benapole :
Eleven days into her marriage, a woman was beaten to death allegedly by her husband and in-laws over a dowry-related feud in Kharki area of Jessore town on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Rekha, 15, wife of Jahir Hossain, a resident of the same village.
Local people said Rekha, daughter of Abdus Salam, a resident of Jalkar village in Manirampur upazila of Jessore district, was married to Jahir 11 days ago.
After their marriage, Jahir demanded Tk 40,000 as dowry from Rekha’s family and used to torture her for realising the money.
Later, he took Tk 5,000 from Rekha’s family.
Even after that, Jahir and his family members mounted pressure on Rekha to bring Tk 40,000 from her family. Failing to get the money, Jahir and his family members beat Rekha mercilessly on Sunday afternoon, leaving her seriously injured.
Later, they poured poison into her mouth to prove that she committed suicide and rushed her to Jessore Medical College Hospital.
On information, Rekha’s father Salam came to the hospital and heard the real matter from Rekha.
