An elderly woman was burned to death while warming herself with a bonfire at their courtyard of Rasulpur village in Sadullapur upazila on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Samattovan, 65, a resident of the village.
Quoting family members, Earshadul Haque, officer-in-charge of Sadullapur Police Station, said the woman along with her family members was warming themselves with the bonfire amid biting cold.
At one stage, the sari of the woman caught fire around 10:30 pm and the fire engulfed her entire body, burning her badly.
The woman was taken to Sadullapur upazila health complex where she succumbed to her injuries around 11 pm, the OC added.
