A young lady was reportedly killed after rape at Sonapur under Jhikargachha upazila in Jessore early Friday.
The dead was identified as Monira Khatun, 25, wife of Hasanuzzaman of Noali village under Jhikargachha upazila in Jessore and also daughter of Abdul Maleq of Sonapur village of the same upazila.
The housewife was found dead in the residence of her uncle Abdur Razzak, while three others of the family – Saiful, 15, son of Abdur Razzak, Saiful’s mother Rashida Begum, 30, and his
aunt Jahanara, 55, were found unconscious. The trio was rushed to Jessore General Hospital instantly.
Relatives suspect that Monira was strangulated after rape by unidentified miscreants after making other family members unconscious. The national identity card of one Shimul was recovered from the spot.
But Sikder Motiur Rahman, Officer in-Charge, investigation, Jhikargachha Police Station, said the girl committed suicide after making other family members unconscious between 10pm on Thursday and 5am on Friday. ‘The girl had extra- marital affairs with a man, he added.
