A woman was killed when a Dhaka-bound intercity Jamuna Express train hit her at Gafargaon in Mymensingh. The accident took place in the bridge area of Chhotabarai village of Paithal union of Gafargaon upazila around 8:15 pm on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Shamsun Nahar Basna, 45. She is the wife of Jahangir Alam of Fulgachhia Union of the upazila.
According to eyewitnesses and locals, the Dhaka-bound Jamuna Express train from Tarakanda in Jamalpur stopped at Gafargaon railway station at around 6.45 am. She was killed on the spot. Family members of the deceased said that she went out for a walk every day after Fajr prayers due to her diabetics. The accident happened while walking out like every day.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Pagla Police Station Shahinuzzaman Khan said the body was recovered and sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy. The police are taking action.
