A woman was killed and 20 were injured as a gas cylinder exploded at Salimabad Darbar Sharif under Amtali upazila in Barguna district yesterday.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Amtali police station Pulok Chandra Roy said the
accident occurred at about 5 pm when hundreds of people of different aged, including children and women, came to visit the 3-day long 69th annual Urs mela started on Thursday on the Darbar premises.
The OC said, “we are investigating the reason of the blast”.
The deceased was identified as Nurunnahar Begum, 60, wife of Sona Mia of Dalachora village.
The injured were sent to Barisal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital, Patuakhali General Hospital and Amtali Upazila Health Complex.
