A woman in labour was hit by a train when her CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver took a shortcut across the rail tracks at Baizid in Chittagong city on Monday night.
Tania, 26, wife of Nurul Alam of Roufabad in Oxygen area, gave birth to a baby girl at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), but the mother is under observation for her critical condition, said CMCH sources.
Tania’s two relatives, who were accompanying her in the auto-rickshaw, Ruby Akter, 28, and Chompa Begum, 45, also suffered head injuries and were admitted to the hospital, said CMCH police outpost official.
