A woman was chopped to death allegedly by her minor stepson at Kittipur village in Jhikargachha municipality on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Anwara Begum, 40, second wife of Mashiur Rahman of the village.
Abu Saleh Masud Karim, officer-in-charge of Jhikargachha Police Station, said Anwara locked into an altercation with her stepson Mim, 15, around 8pm. At one stage, Mim hacked her indiscriminately with an axe, leaving her critically injured. Neighbours rescued the victim and took her to Jhikargachha upazila health complex where doctors declared her dead, the OC said, adding that after the incident, Mim went to the police station and surrendered to police.
