An elderly woman and her grandson were crushed under a train in Rajbari area of Kalihati upazila on Friday morning. The deceased were identified as Sufia Begum, 60, and her grandson Ahad Ali, 5, son of Sabur Ali, of Rasulpur area in Ghatail upazila.
Nur-e-Alam, sub-inspector of Banghabandhu Bridge (East) Police Station,
said Sufia and her grandson came to visit one of their relatives in Kalihati upazila. The accident took place around 6 am as Dhaka-bound ‘Ekota Express’ hit them while they were sitting on the rail tracks, leaving the duo dead on the spot.
