A court here on Sunday convicted a woman and sentenced her to life term imprisonment for possessing heroin.
The court also fined her Tk10,000 each, in default, to suffer one year more rigorous imprisonment.
The convict was identified as Fatema Begum,25, wife of Kamal Uddin Sardar, a resident of Jhaudanga area in Pathorghata upazila of Satkhira district.
According to the prosecution, police arrested Fatema along with 50 grams of heroin from Sonadanga of the city on September 7, 2013.
After examining the records and witnesses, Khulna Sessions Judge Sayedur Rahman handed down the verdict.
