A woman was “gang-raped” allegedly by three men at a village in Sonagazi upazila of Feni on Tuesday night.
Police arrested an alleged rapist, Noor Alam, 35, on Wednesday afternoon following a complaint filed by the victim with Sonagazi Model Police Station.
Later, the victim filed a case against three people including Noor with the police station on Wednesday evening, said Kamal Hossain, inspector
(investigation) of the police station. Two other accused Appel and Mosharaf Hossain went into hiding after the incident, the police official said.
The incident happened barely seven days after the death of Madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi who was set afire on April 6 allegedly for refusing to withdraw a case against her madrasa principal over sexual assault in the same upazila.
Inspector Kamal Hossain on Wednesday said the three youths -Noor, Appel and Moshraf-took the woman, wife of an expatriate and mother of two children, to a place nearby the victim’s house when she went out of the house to respond a natural call on Tuesday night.
