RAB has arrested two persons in connection with the gang-rape of a housewife in Sitakunda Upazila of Chittagong.
The arrested persons have been identified as Md. Saddam Hossain and Md. Zaheed Mustafa.
RAB-7 captain Lieutenant Colonel MA Yusuf disclosed this information in a press conference at RAB’s Chandgaon office on Saturday afternoon.
The elite force said that the victim housewife lives in a rented house in Sitakunda of Chittagong district. About 23 to 24 days ago, her husband was arrested by the police and is in jail. Because of this, the victim went to her father’s house in Muradpur with her two children.
Meanwhile, on July 28, the miscreants took various goods worth about Tk 150,000 from the rented house of the victim housewife. Later, when she reached the road
adjacent to Barbakund Union Parishad with his nephew and cousin’s son to fetch the looted goods, the miscreants them walloped.
Later, the perpetrators gang-raped the victim after keeping her in a hut on the railway line adjacent to Maqbul Rahman Jute Mills of that union. At that time, they captured the rape photos of the victim on their mobile phones. Later, they fled after giving threat with weapons.
The captain of RAB-7 said that after the incident, the victim’s housewife was rescued by her elder brother. Later, he arranged for the sister’s treatment at Sitakunda Upazila Health Complex. The victim filed a case with the Sitakunda police station naming four persons and accusing an unknown person as the accused.
The main accused Saddam Hossain and Zaheed Mustafa were arrested on Saturday morning within 13 hours of filing the case by the victim housewife.
However, there are six cases of various misdemeanors including weapons, robbery, robbery against Saddam, RAB officials added.
