The body of a woman has been found hanging in her room in Dhaka’s Derma. The family of the dead has described the unnatural death as an act of suicide, claiming that the victim was ‘mentally imbalanced’.
Beauty Akter, 50, was taken to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital around Saturday midnight in a seemingly unconscious state. But doctors there pronounced her dead.
Her son ‘Munna’ had taken her to the hospital, said Demra police’s Inspector Md Sirajul Islam.
Citing Munna’s version, the police officer said, “Beauty and her youngest daughter were in the same room. Later, her son found her hanging with a scarf from the ceiling fan.”
Beauty was ‘mentally imbalanced’, stated her son, Inspector Islam told bdnews24.com.
“Primary evidence suggests it is a case of suicide. The family has requested that the body be handed over to them without an autopsy.”
