Another woman mysteriously died at the custody of Mohammadpur Police Station in the early Tuesday, hours after her detention by police from a house near Mohammadpur BRTC bus stand area.
The deceased was identified as
Kolpona Begum alias Josna, 30, said Md Wahiduzzaman, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Tejgaon Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Wahiduzzaman said that, they arrested Josna along with three others from a house in Mohammadpur area for their alleged involvement in anti-social activities.
“They were kept at Mohammadpur Police Station. At 3:00am, Josna felt unwell,” he said, adding that they took her to Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
Later, she was shifted to National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, where she breathed her last, he said.
The autopsy was already completed at Suhrawardy Hospital morgue and the cause of death will be announced soon, he added.
On February 18, a mother of two died several hours after she was picked up from her residence by Detective Branch of police in Gazipur.
