A woman allegedly slit throats of her two children and then she committed suicide hanging herself from the ceiling fan in their residence at Nijnagar village in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj district on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Hadisa Begum, 25, Meem, 2 and Mujahid, 1.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Madhabpur Police Station Chandan Kumar Chakrabarty said, “Hearing screams of the children, the neighbour went to Hadisa’s
house and knocked the door around 9:00pm and found them dead.”
Informed by locals, police reached the spot and recovered the bodies around 11:00pm, the police official said.
The reason behind the incident could not be known yet, but efforts are on to discover the motive, the OC said.
