A housewife succumbed to her injuries on Saturday night, eight days after she was set on fire allegedly by her husband in Jhenaidah district.
The victim has been identified as Pinki Akhter, 20, daughter of one Munnah Bihari from Adorshopara village of the district.
Accused husband has been identified as Shourab,27, son of one Sattar Mondal from the same area.
Local and family sources said, this couple just got married two months ago but over the family dispute, on February 16, her husband Shourab set on fire his wife Pinki. She lost her battle for life around 7:00pm on Saturday while receiving treatment at Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
Abul Bashar, Additional Police Super of Jenaidah confirmed the news to the media and said that victim’s mother filed a case accusing Pinkhi’s husband at that night. Later police arrested the accused.
The body has been sent to the DMCH morgue for autopsy, Bachchu Miah, Inspector of DMCH Police Outpost said.
