A housewife was tortured mercilessly allegedly by her drug addict husband at Bagha upazila in Rajshahi early Saturday.
Victim Noushin Bagum, daughter of Eklashur Rahman Sentu of Omarpur village, was married to Iqbal Hossain, son of Nazrul Islam of Mohodipur village in the same upazila.
According to sources, Noushin have got married to Iqbal following an affair 7 years back. Since then, Iqbal had been torturing his wife without any reason. After returning home early Saturday, Iqbal beat up her mercilessly.
Later, she was recovered by family members and taken to upazila health complex immediately.
Julekha Begum, the victim’s grandmother said, Noushin had been blessed with one child. Iqbal had been torturing her for a long without any offence of her.
