A new prosecution witness (PW) on Wednesday testified in the trial of Forkan Mallik, alleged Razakar commander from Mirazaganj upazilla of Patuakhali, narrating the gruesome crimes that Mallik committed during the War of Liberation.
Rakhal Chandra Bhakto, 60, from village Kakrabunia under Mirzaganj police station, testified as PW-9 at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2.
“Razakars including Mallik and Akbar Gazi led Pakistani troops to our village on 5 Bhadra (Bengali month) in 1971. They looted 13/14 Hindu houses and set fire to those. After their departure, we came out from our hidings and went to Kakrabunia Bazar. On our way, we saw bodies of our neighbors Elem Uddin, Sonot Kumar and Hatem Ali and came to know that Mallik shot them dead,” he said.
“Forkan Mallik also picked up Aleya, daughter of Hatem. They set Aleya free three-day later in dreadful condition. After she had come to sense, we learned that Mallik, his accomplices and Pakistani troops violated her at Patuakhali Circuit House,” Rakhal added.
The second tribunal on December 18, 2014, indicted Mallik and framed five specific charges of crimes against humanity including murder, rape, torture and forced conversion.
