With the increasing of cold wave here, district administration has intensified warm clothes distribution to the cold affected poor people of the district last couples of days to mitigate their sufferings.
According to District Relief and Rehabilitation Office sources said a total of 45,000 blankets were distributed to the cold victims of the district.
Around 10,040 blankets were distributed in Jamalpur sadar upazila, 5270 blankets in Dewanganj upazila, 7280 blankets in Islampur, 4830 blankets in Madarganj, 7350 blankets in Melandaha, 5560 blankets in Sarishabari upazila and 4630 blankets in Bakshiganj upazila.
RU Correspondent reports: Towhidul Islam, Deputy Religious Affairs Secretary of Rajshahi University Unit Bangladesh Chhatra League distributed warm clothes among the cold-hit people on the university campus on Friday.
Marking the Mujib Borsho, he along with his some associates distributed the warm clothes in a function in front of RU Central Cafeteria of the university.
RU Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Hall provost and also Economics Department Prof Rezaul Karim Bakshi, Syed Amer Ali Hall Unit BCL activist Arif Billah, Matihar Hall Unit BCL activists Mashihur Rahman, Al-Amin, Mamunur Rashid, Shaheed Suhrawardy Hall Unit BCL activist Nayon Mohonto, Sher-e Bangla Fazlul Haque Hall Unit BCL activists Golam Tashim, Manik, Shaheed Habibur Rahman Hall Unit BCL activist Bulbul Mahmud, among others, were present at the programme.
While addressing, BCL leader Towhidul said, they stood beside cold-affected people allocating warm clothes in the Mujib Borsho as the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, have announced the year of 2020 as Mujib Borsho.
A total of 20 pieces of blankets were distributed among the people to protect them from cold.
BSS from Rangpur says: Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) distributed 400 blankets among cold-stricken people at a function on RCCI Public School and College ground here on Friday .
The RCCI with assistance of Labib Group and Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) distributed the blankets among the cold-hit people to mitigate their sufferings. President of RCCI Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu with other officials of the business body distributed the blankets in the first phase during this winter season.
On the occasion, the RCCI President called upon businessmen, different trade bodies, charity and voluntary organisations and financial institutionsand affluent people to stand beside the cold-hit people of Rangpur region.
Senior Vice-president of RCCI Mostoba Hossain Ripon, Convener of its Relief Sub-committee and Director Khemchand Somani Rabi, Directors Md Shahjahan Babu, Debobrata Sarker Ranju, Motahar Hossain Mandal Mowla, Md Obaidur Rahman(Ratan), Md Zulfiquer Aziz Khan Bhutto and former Vice-president Md Mozammel Haque Dambel were present, among others.
Another reports adds: Bangladesh Police Service Association (BPSA) distributed blankets among 200 cold-stricken poor and distressed people of different char villages in Kawnia upazila of the district on Thursday. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rangpur Range Police Devdas Bhattacharya distributed the blankets on behalf of BPSA at a function held on Gajirhat Primary School ground in the upazila as the chief guest.
Superintendents of Police Md Zakir Hossain, Abu Maruf Hossain and Mehedul Karim, Kawnia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ulfat Ara Begum, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kawnia Thana Azizul Islam and Upazila Youth Development Officer Md Shamsuzzoha were present.
