Fahami Golandaz Babel MP distributed 2250 blanket among poor people night at Gafargaon under Mymensingh on Sunday .
He distributed blankets at Gafargaon Rail Station Chattar, Cattle-Market , Bus Terminal, Jamtola More,and Court-building area on Sunday night.
Upazila chairman Asraf Uddin Badal, Pourosova Mayor Ikbal Hossain Sumon, UNO Shiddhartha Shonkor Kundu, Upazila Relief – Rehabiliation Officer Rezaul Karim, PS of MP Masud Hossain Sohel were also present.
BSS from Rangpur adds: Footsteps Foundation, a Dhaka-based youth empowered social business based organisation, distributed huge warm clothes among cold-stricken people of Rangpur region during the past two days.
Volunteers of the organisation launched the programme ‘A Heartwarming
Winter 2016′ this year for the third consecutive time to assist the poor, distressed and underprivileged people adapt to the bitter cold through collecting and distributing warm clothes.
Earlier, the Footsteps volunteers collected the winter donations from different houses and offices in Gulshan and Banani areas of capital city Dhaka on 26th December last.
Carrying by a truck, volunteers of the organisation donated their collected warm clothes among thousands of people in Chilmari upazila of Kurigram, Gaibandha, Kawnia and Sadar upazilas of Rangpur districts on Monday and Tuesday last.
Under the programme, volunteers of Footsteps distributed 2,700 pieces of quality blankets, 2,000 pieces of mosquito nets, 2,000 pieces of winter hats, 150 sacks and boxes full of sweaters, T-shirts and other clothes among the cold-hit people.
Talking to BSS, Co-founder of Footsteps Foundation Shah Rafayat Chowdhury said the unprivileged people, especially those who are in absolute poverty, have been suffering greatly as winter is getting harsher every year.
Expressing deep gratitude to the people of Banani and Gulshan areas in Dhaka for spontaneous donations, Rafayat said their supports would help thousands of the cold-stricken rural people of the northern districts of Rangpur, Kurigram and Gaibandha.
