West Indies registered an easy seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in their first match of the ICC World Cup Cricket at Trent Bridge in Nottingham in England on Friday.
Chasing Pakistan’s paltry total of 105 off 21.4 overs, West Indies sailed home only in 13.4 overs making 108 for the loss of three wickets only.
Oshane Thomas, Jason Holder, Andre Russell and Sheldon Cottrell played the vital role in wrecking Pakistan’s innings.  
Thomas captured four wickets at the cost of 27 runs, while Jason Holder grabbed three wickets instead of 42 runs, Andre Russell bagged a couple of wickets only for four runs and Sheldon Cottrell took one wicket conceding 18 runs.
Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Hafeez were the four batsmen of Pakistan who could reach the double-digit figures scoring 22, 22, 18 and 16 runs respectively.
Later, West Indies made a fine start with openers Chris Gayle and Shai Hope scoring together 36 runs in the opening stand before Shai Hope (11) was caught at the mid-off by Mohammad Hafeez off Mohammad Amir.
Then Darren Bravo (0) was caught at the second slip by Babar Azam off Mohammad Amir when West Indies total was 46 for the loss of two wickets.
Opener Chris Gayle was caught at the point by Shadab Khan off Mohammad Amir when Windies score was 77 for the loss of three wickets.
Gayle hit a superb 50. His 34-ball innings saw three sixes and six fours. It was Gayle’s 52nd ODI half-century.
After dismissal of Gayle; Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer guided their team to reach the winning spot.
Pooran hit an unbeaten 34. His 19-ball knock had four fours and two sixes.
Mohammad Amir restored some parity for Pakistan grabbing three wickets at the cost of 26 runs.
Oshane Thomas was adjudged the Man of the Match for splendid bowling.
