Former national champion Wills Little Flower School got off to a winning start in the Dhaka Metro phase Prime Bank National School Cricket tournament beating Ali Ahmed School and College by six wickets in the opening match on Sunday at Dhaka University Johurul Haque ground in the city.
Batting first, Ali Ahmed School and College were dismissed at a paltry total of 193 in 39 overs with Fayez scoring 81 runs.
Ashikur Rahman, Mehedi Hossain Prince and Kayokobad shared two wickets each for Wills Little Flower.
In reply, Wills Little Flower suffered early batting jolt as they lost their opener Zahidul. But Afnan Islam’s firm batting display took Wills Little Flower at home in only 16 overs with six wickets in hand. Afnan contributed match highest 87 runs while Arafat Hossain added 39 to ensure their team’s commanding victory.
Afnan Islam of Wills Little Flower was named the player of the match for his impressive batting performance.
Earlier, Prime Bank Limited senior executive vice president and company secretary M Ahasan Habib formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest.
Organised by Bangladesh Cricket Board, Prime Bank is sponsoring the tournament for six years.
