Will Tigers be able to pull up their socks to avoid any hiccups?

BSS, Dhaka :
An age old clich’ that says ‘cricket is a game of glorious uncertainties’ is so apt that the test match at the Basin Reserve, Wellington may well turn out to be one unless the remaining batsmen pull up their socks big time to overcome the little hiccups and the tightness in the stomach that one may tend to feel.
Former National batsman Ishtiaque Ahmed talking to BSS on Monday express his thought on the ongoing First Test match between Bangladesh and New Zealand. After having led in the first innings by not too much, the three young pace bowlers especially Rabbi and Subhashish Roy could surely be lauded for their sincere and untiring efforts.
Hurrying the batsmen in the crease with their pace and giving them body blows and getting their wickets in the process too was as inspiring as one would have expected. Imagine a fully fit Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel and the young Taskin Ahmed who did go for 141 runs for his solitary wicket can really make a formidable bowling attack under any conditions.
A belligerent knock of 177 runs by Tom Latham may have created few records and landmarks along the way but it was his workman like innings that augurs well for New Zealand cricket in the days to come and his penchant for the longer version of the game.
Shakib as usual got a few but it was Mahmudullah Riyadh who showed once again that all he has to do is turn his arm around and the wickets are there for the taking.
Mehdi Hasan Miraj may have set up an enviable record of being dismissed twice in the last ball of the day although the second innings run out coming as a night watchman and also a test match he would like to forget for his bowling figures as it turned out for him.
The bizarre situation that led to Imrul Kayes being taken away on a stretcher needs no reconfirmation that he surely is down and out unless a late hour miracle happens and he is given clearance to bat.
The encouraging part however is that Mushfiqur Rahim looked set to bat and if ever his grit and determination may come in handy is if the Kiwis are able to gobble up couple of early wickets tomorrow.
Mominul Huque is also presented with an opportunity that he should not let go and dig deep to not only take his side out of troubled waters but also oblige the selectors and coach Haturasinghe who one can easily assume will have has his heart in his mouth come the fifth day.
I am sure if he can deliver tomorrow his one day and T20 claims will surely be established once and for all if his innings turns out to be a match saving innings.
If Tigers can prolong their innings half an hour to an hour after then they should be having total above 200 marks. Scoring run a ball in a fourth innings in the final two sessions should not be an easy task for the Kiwis. So it will be wrong totally write off Tigers’ outside chances.
All depends on which sides can get hold of their nerves on the final day and let me remind our fanatic Tiger fans that ‘Cricket is always a game of glorious uncertainties’.
