A minor boy was trampled by a herd of wild elephants in South Hangon area under Sadar upazila of the district on Tuesday early morning.
The victim was identified as M Tareq, 4, son of Nurul Islam of the same area.
Police said the elephants coming from the nearby forest trampled Tareq while he was sleeping at their house in the area. He died on the spot.
The body was sent to Sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Officer-in-Charge of Sadar police station Imtiaz Ahmed confirmed the incident.
