A man was killed by the attack of wild elephants at Sandhakura in Jhenaigati upazila of Sherpur on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Uttam Sangma (55) son of Modon Marak at Sandhakura in Jhenaigati of the district.
A herd of wild elephants came down from the frontier forest in locality and started to damage the paddy fields and the houses. The people of that area tried to chase away the elephants but one of the elephants held Uttam Sangma with its trunk and squeezed him. He was critically injured and people hurriedly took him at Jhenaihati health complex and after in Sherpur Sadar Hospital. He was died at 9.30 pm in Sherpur Sadar Hospital.
Officer in charge of Jhenaigati thana Md Mizanur Rahman confirmed about it.
