Three people were trampled to death by wild elephantsin Kadurkhil, Syednagar and Joistapura areas of Boalkhali upazila on Sunday morning.
The deceased were identified as Abu Taher Mistri, 60, Jaker Hossain, 65, former headmaster of BB Govt Primary School,and farmer Abdul Mabud, 60.
Member from ward-1 of Kadurkhil union parishad Abdul Karim said a herd of 4-5 elephants attacked Taher while he was working at his mustard field Sharifpara in the morning, leaving him dead on the spot.

Mosque in Syednager, leaving him critically injured, said his daughter Fahmina Afroz.
Later, he was taken to Upazila Health Complex from where he was shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, she added.
On the way to the hill, the elephant herd attacked farmerAbdul Mabud at Amirpara of Joustapura, leaving him dead on the spot.
Md Helal Uddin Faruki, officer-in-charge of Boalkhali Police Station, said the bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families on Sunday noon.
Boalkhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer Achia Khatun said each of the victims’ families will be provided with Tk 1 lakh.
At the same time, whose valuables were damaged by the elephants, will be given Tk 25,000 after assessing the extent of damages, the UNO added.
On Saturday, nine elephants came down to the locality and stayed at a nut orchard near Purbo Kadurkhilthroughout the night.
