A wild elephant was killed at a paddy field at Mokamibil area under Shadhonpur Union at Banshkhali in Chittagong on Monday night.
Sources and locals said, the wild elephant came to a paddy field in search of food. But, the elephant touched the electric cable causing its death.
Hundreds of villagers came to see the body of the elephant. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Banshkhali upazila Mohammad Sohel said, “The elephant might be died by electric short circuit. Hundreds of locals came to see the body of the elephant. The officials of administration also visited the spot.”
The body samples of the elephant were sent to forensic department for test. The body was buried at Banshkhali by the upazila administration.
