Trader Giasuddin was killed by the boyfriend of his wife Laboni Akter Lima, police said.
Quoting Lima’s confessional statement Salauddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirpur Model Police Station told The New Nation yesterday that Lima devised the whole plan with her boyfriend Tanvir Ahmed and two of his friends.
Lima was arrested for interrogation after the killing.
The OC also said, according to Lima’s confessional statement, police arrested three persons, including her boyfriend Tanvir Ahmed, 18, a first year student of BL College, from Mirpur-10 on Tuesday night.
Besides, Sadman Islam Mukto, 18, first year student of Dhaka Commerce College, and Akibul Islam alias Jishan, 18, student of Government Science College have been held.
During interrogation, Tanvir said that he was introduced with Lima one year ago and developed an illicit relation with her,” said Salauddin.
He said Lima and Tanvir got married on October 15 and killed Gias to fulfill Lima’s wish that they could live together.
Lima gave Tanvir Tk 30 thousand to execute the murder.
Quoting Sadman, the OC said, Tanvir brought them to the fourth floor of a six- storied building located at Block-C of Mirpur-10. They hit Giasuddin with a stick around 10:00pm as soon as he reached home.
When he fell down on the floor, they tied his hands and legs with rope and Tanvir strangulated him to death. After executing the killing, they left the place wearing veils, he added.
Police recovered the body of Gias,35, around 11:30 from inside his residence in the capital’s Mirpur area on Sunday.
