Ripa Akhtar , a housewife tortured by her husband Rustum Ali has been fighting for life at Gobindapur village under Luxmipur Union in Gaibandha Sadar Upazila and the family members of the victim have been passing their life in anxiety as the accused is not arrested yet.
It is learnt that the Ripa’s husband was a drug addict and after their marriage she was allegedly being tortured regularly by her husband Rustum Ali . She was admitted to Gaibandha Sadar hospital in a critical condition.
Besides, her husband demanded dowry of Tk 5 lakh and when their family failed to pay the dowry money , he allegedly tortured her on September 5, 2018. She was admitted to Gaibandha Sadar Upazila
A case has been filed in this regard under Children and Women Repression Act with Gaibandga Sadar thana . The accused husband is an influential person in the area and police is yet to arrest the accused.
