An employee of Sylhet City Corporation allegedly killed newly married wife to death following a quarrel over talking to her relatives on mobile phone on early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Rajna Chowdhury, 20, wife of Lakkhan Das, 30, a truck driver of SCC, police said.
Rajna’s father Subash Chandra Chowdhury said that Lakkhan married his daughter only a month ago and the newlywed couple was living with them at a rented house at Kokapara of Sheikhghat area in the city.
‘Lakkhan murdered my daughter following a quarrel over talking on mobile phone,’ Subash claimed while talking to the reporters in the afternoon.
He said that Lakkhan quarreled with Rajna on Sunday night over her talking to different relatives on mobile phone.
Subash said that he went to a hospital for his wife’s treatment on Sunday night. After returning to home from the hospital on Monday noon, he found that the door of Rajna’s bedroom was open and her dead body was lying on the bed.
Subash said that Rajna’s husband fled the house after the incident.

The police officer said they suspected that she might have been strangulated to death.
