The court in Chittagong sentenced life term rigorous imprisonment to a woman and her brother for killing woman’s husband. The court also fined Tk 10,000 to each accused. In failure of payment of fine, the court sentenced more six months to each accused.
The convicted accused are Sufia Akhter Priya and Mizan Rahman. The Court of Chittagong Metropolitan Session Judge Mohammad Shah E Noor awarded life term RI to Sufia Akhter Priya and Mizan Rahman for killing Sufia’s husband Iqbal Hossain Bhuiyan.
Sources said, the accused Sufia Akhter Priya and Mijan Rahman killed Iqbal Hossain, a taxi driver who lived at Mumin Nagar area under Bondor thana in the port city on November 3 in 2008. They killed him by suffocation and later, the body was thrown to river. Police recovered the body of the victim next day and filed a case in this connection.
Police submitted the charge sheet against Sufia Akhter Priya and Mizan Rahman on Fbruary 26 in 2009. The court framed the charge against the accused on October 6 in 2010.
