The Manikganj police administration has given the preliminary dues to the wife of a deceased police constable within 72 hours of his death from COVID-19 on June 27, official sources told BSS yesterday.
Two cheques for Taka 22,35, 600, including Tk.19, 04,400 as gratuity and Tk.3, 31, 200 as lump grant, were handed over to the wife of constable Atiar Rahman.
Besides, seven proposals claiming Tk 37,75,000 which include Tk.25,000 for burial, Tk. 25,00000 for financial assistance for COVID-19 deceased, Tk. 500000 for on duty death, Tk. 500000 from Bangladesh Police Compensatory Fund, Tk 100000 from Bangladesh Police Welfare Fund, Tk. 100000 from Group Insurance and Tk. 50,000 from Bangladesh Police Family Security Project were submitted to the concerned authorities for approval.
Rifat Rahman, superintendent of police (SP), Manikganj, told BSS that they had taken rapid steps from the very beginning of illness of the deceased, including his admission to a hospital, taking and handing over his body to his family, collecting all of his information and issuing cheques for handing over to his family.
“All the procedures were completed within three working days, he mentioned.
“We are expecting to get all of his dues within the shortest possible time,” the SP said.
“We have been extending all sorts of necessary helps to our corona positive police personnel so that they could recover earlier,” he added.
