A female was allegedly gang-raped by her husband’s friends in the capital’s Sipahibagh area after she was taken there with a promise of negotiation between the couple.
The 25-year-old victim filed a rape case with Khilgaon police station on Sunday evening against her husband and five others.
The girl lives in Dholairpar area and the incident took place on Tuesday at Sipahibagh, according to the case statement.
Khilgaon police station officer-in-charge Farukul Alam said that the girl’s husband Ayub Ali on Tuesday evening took her to a flat of one of his friends, where she was gang-raped.
The girl then rushed to one stop crisis centre of Dhaka Medical College Hospital and underwent medical tests.
She appeared to the police station on Sunday and filed the case.
OC Farukul said that usually victims appear to a police station first to file a case and then police send her to hospitals for medical tests.
But in this case, the victim went to DMCH one stop crisis centre first and then came to a police station five days after the incident.
‘We have talked with one stop crisis centre and they confirmed her treatments there. We asked one stop crisis centre officials why they did not inform us. The officials replied that the victim could not locate and specify the area at first,’ said the OC.
The victim’s cousin said that she is married to Ayub for one year. It was Ayub’s second marriage.
Ayub used to torture her and she filed a case against him with Jatrabari police station earlier.
The husband had requested her for compromise and took her to the Sipahibagh flat.
