Widespread protests hit Sylhet over cartoons of Prophet Muhammad (Sm)

Islamist activists and leaders have staged demonstrations in Sylhet and demanded from the government to sever diplomatic relations with France protesting against its exposition of the caricature of Prophet Muhammad (Sm.).
They came up with the demand at a rally organized by Bangladesh Jatio Iimam Samity, Sylhet City on Friday.
Several hundred activists and leaders of the party joined the rally at Court Point Mosque in Sylhet City.
In his speech, SCC Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhry demanded that the government of Bangladesh should place a bill in the Parliament to condemn the French government.
In their demonstrations, the protesters urged all to boycott French products.
Islamic leaders demanded from the government to sever diplomatic relations with France. Their other demands included adopting censure motion in the parliament and removing French Embassy from the country.
Bangladesh Jatio Iimam Samity Sylhet City President Moulana Habib Ahmed Shihab Presided over and secretary Sirajul Islam conducted this rally.
Sylhet City AL Secretary Zakir Hussain, Maulana Ataur Rahman, Former SCC Panel Mayor Rezaul Hasan Koyes Ludi, Maulana Khalilur Rahman, Maulana Shahid Ahmed, Maulana Noor Ahmed Kashemi, Maulana Ahmed Sagir, Maulana Nazrul Islam, Maulana Moklisur Rahman, Maulana Mashuk Ahmed, Maulana Ashraf Ali, Maulana Abdul Latif also spoke this rally.
Meanwhile, Hefazat-e-Islam Sylhet City arranged demonstrations in Sylhet Surma Point in Sylhet and demanded the government to sever diplomatic relations with France protesting against its exposition of the caricature of Prophet Muhammad (Sm.).
Hefazat-e-Islam Sylhet City Vice President Maulana Mozduddin Ahmed presided Maulana Maklisur Rahma, Maulana Nazrul Islam and Maulana Fahad Aman Conducted this Rally. Several hundred activists and leaders of the Hefazat-e-Islam joined the rally.
