The High Court on Monday issued a rule seeking explanation as to why suspended deputy assistant engineer Md Shafiqul Islam won’t get bail in three cases filed against him over graft in RooppurNuclear PowerPlantproject.
A bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukdar and Justice Ahmed Sohel issued the rule.
Advocate Md Khurshid Alam Khan stood for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Deputy Attorney General (DAG) AKM Amin Uddin for the state and Advocate Sayed Ahmed represented the bail petitioner. According to the prosecution, on December 12, 2019,

ACC filed separate cases on charge of corruption involving Tk 26 crore in purchasing furniture and other household items for the residential project of RooppurNuclear PowerPlant in Pabna.
The cases were filed against Shafiqul and several others. Shafiqul was also arrested in this conneciton.
