Why Rana Plaza owner not to be given bail: HC

The High Court on Monday issued a rule asking why bail should not be granted to Sohail Rana, owner of Rana Plaza, in a case filed against him over Rana Plaza collapse in Savar.
The High Court bench of Badruzzaman and Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim issued the rule.
Deputy Attorney General Md. Bashir Ullah and Assistant Attorney General Syeda Ratna stood for state while Lawyer Mohammad Sajjad Ali Chowdhury stood for the accused.
Later, Deputy Attorney General Md. Bashir Ullah said the court had issued a four-week rule asking why Sohail Rana would not be granted bail in the case.
On April 24, 2013, 1,137 people were killed when the Rana Plaza, a 10-storey building adjacent to the Savar bus stand near Dhaka, collapsed. Five days after the incident, on April 29, Sohail Rana was arrested from Benapole in Jshore while fleeing to India.
